Cycle Systems is unique: a completely car-free cycle service based in London. In 2007 Sean and Julia Lally saw an opportunity for a cycle servicing company in London and moved here to set up Cycle Systems. Sean, as a City and Guilds qualified cycle mechanic himself, knew from workshop experience that waiting lists for repair of two to three weeks were not uncommon in the city and decided that a mobile mechanic outfit aimed at large employers and organizations could be of real benefit in the current push to encourage cycling to work.
From the early days of operating a cycle workshop out of the back of a narrowboat and cycling London with a rugged mountain bike and a trailer buckling under the strain, Cycle Systems model has come a long way. We now use branded freight bikes and are used to being saluted as we cycle around the congested streets by cyclists, motorists and pedestrians alike! Everyone, it would seem, loves the Cycle Systems concept.
London Borough of Islington were the first to enlist our services, and we have since gone on to work with several London Boroughs, large organizations and employers such as the Greater London Authority at City Hall (where we’ve even been known to fix Boris’s bike!), the prestigious pan-London Transport for London cycle servicing contract, the TfL Cycle Superhighways contract for cycle maintenance and national standard cyle training as well as with corporate firms such as Clifford Chance, Aviva Investors and the Broadgate estates.
We are also the service company of choice for London emergency services cycle squad London Ambulance Service and repair fleet bikes for TfL, GLA, and private clients such as the Douglas Gordon Estate Agent chain.
Cycle Systems is growing exponentially and is very proud to have been asked to become a part of the London Cycling Campaign’s Star Alliance project – a consortium of partners involved in the cycle industry with the sole aim of converting more companies over to the economic, ecological and health benefits of having your employees cycle to work.
