BB spanners are designed to loosen or tighten the bottom bracket cups. 6-pin and 8-pin spanners seen in this picture are designed to tighten / loosen the lock-ring on open type bottom bracket adjusting cup. There are also 3-pin and 4-pin versions of lock-ring spanners that are not included in this picture.
