Chain whip is traditionally a metal bar with handle and a piece of chain attached to it. The tool is used to prevent a freehub body ratcheting backwards while undoing the lock-ring of a cassette.
The 3-pin “chain whip” is designed to grip and hold in place 11 and 12 teeth cassette cogs. This tool is also available in 13 and 14teeth version.
