Task Summary
Removing a BB unit is a common workshop job. You will often need to inspect a unit to assess whether it needs a refurbishment or a straightforward replacement. However, in the case of cartridge BB units, they are generally manufactured as "fit and forget" items, designed to be thrown away and replaced. very rarely, for example on an expensive Cartridge BB, you can replace the bearings within them. But this is an advanced job and you would need to follow manufacturer guidelines to do so.
To remove a cartridge bearing BB unit you will first need to have removed the cranks.
