BB is a common acronym for a Bottom Bracket.

Task Summary

Shimano Hollowtech II and SRAM

On an outboard/external BB unit you will have already removed the BB spindle when you removed the cranks .It will still be necessary to remove the outboard bearing cups and any spacers between the cups and the BB shell on a Shimano or SRAM model. However, with the Campagnolo unit the cups remain in the frame when you remove the cranks, and the bearings rest within the chainset.

Tools

Shimano II (same method applies to SRAM)
