Task Summary
Rod brakes are the most primitive of bicycle braking systems (apart from a fixed wheel bike with no brakes of course.) A special type of brake pad is needed - they are still available but may need to be specially ordered. Pads should be suitable for running on a westwood or westrick rim. It is often a good idea to take in your old rod brake blocks to the shop to make sure you get the correct replacement. Once you have done this, you can follow the steps here to replace.
