Task Summary

For demo purposes the tyre has been removed - normally you will be setting the brakes with the tyre on. Follow the steps for tensioning a dual pivot caliper brake for how to fix the cable onto the brake arm. Notice that the quick release is flipped down (closed) before we tension the brakes. Once again, the nut at the top of the caliper does not need to be tightened at this stage. You can see here that the brake caliper is not centred (i.e the brake blocks are not striking the rim from equal distances.)

WORKSHOP TIP: The brake blocks should be equidistant from the rim and set at approx 1-2mm on either side.
